8 Signs You're Being Manipulated:

Manipulation can be hard to decipher at first. It can be disguised as a star employee, a never-does-anything-wrong boyfriend, or a leader you respect and admire. (At first) people who manipulate seem very compliant and respectful, but not for long.

1. Spills a Sob Story

People who use manipulation to get their needs met, always start with a sob story. They play the role of the victim and have a “woe is me” attitude.

2. Too Nice, Too Soon

The difference between someone who is being genuinely kind, and a manipulator is a person's intent. Manipulators are only kind because they want something from you. They expect a return from their investment.

3. Verbally Abusive

Someone who is always complimenting you and claims to be your best bud, yet the moment you do something wrong, they talk down to you and tell you how “awful” you are.

💥Holiness - "Be ye Holy; As I am Holy" (1 Peter 1:16)
💥Repentance ‐ "People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy" (Proverbs 28:13)
💥Love - "By your love they will know you are my disciples" (John 13:35)
💥Prayer - "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16)

As you think about all you need to get done this week, keeping yourself organized will help you get more accomplished.

Even though, we may have lots we want to accomplish let's also remember, as followers of Christ, it's important to be disciplined and excellent in our work, but let's not get too busy "working" that we don't prioritize time with God or are not interruptable.

Plan your To-do's but be open to letting the Holy Spirit lead, guide, and interrupt your day; you never know who may be in need of a helping hand in the midst of all those plans.

Sometimes we think that God is trying to limit our life and restrict our freedom with "rules", but what we don't realize is that living by God's standard brings freedom, because living in sin and being bound by it, only brings destruction & despair.

God shows us through His Word and the life of Jesus, what true freedom looks like. And that's living by the Spirit not by the flesh.

Grief happens when you lose something or someone you love.

From experiencing pain or disappointment by someone you love.

It can be hard to deal with the feelings of your grief, feeling angry with what happened, but then guilty because "you're not supposed to feel that way".

-It is feeling joyful for a good moment in your life while still grieving what's no longer there.
-It is feeling love for a person while still feeling the pain they caused.
-It is knowing that sitting with your grief means processing both the good and the bad.

Desensitization is real - it's the psychological term for describing someone who no longer responds emotionally (positive or negative) to a situation after repeated exposure.

For example, the first time you listen to a song it gives you euphoric feelings and you could listen to it for hours, but after listening to the same song for the ______ time, it no longer gives you those same feelings but are now bored by it. Onto the next song, and the same cycle continues...

This can happen with small things or bigger issues.

This can even happen with our spirituality - we can become desensitized (loose discernment) about what is true and Biblical or what is godly and healthy for our lives from exposure to what we've seen and heard.

Have you ever done something because "it seemed right" or because "everyone else was doing it", just to learn later that it led you into sin or was against your Christian beliefs?

What do you think about when you think of Easter?

I think about the words "Holy Holy Holy" that I've been meditating on lately in worship. Some of my favorite songs have these words.

I think about how Jesus rode into Jerusalem as King before he died on the cross and rose on the third day.

I think about how Jesus is Alive and will be coming back again and one day every knee will bow and tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 14:9,11).

This imagery brings me to these words, "Holy Holy Holy" for the day when we meet him face to face (Revelation 4:8).
